Biographical / Historical
This scriptural waiata is believed to protect the singers wherever they go. It used to be sung at Parihaka by the people of Ngā Ruahinerangi. In a back announcement Wananga Matoe says it was sung in the House of Parliament when Mr Coates was Premier, in Māui Pōmare's time.
